Open Source Components and Third-Party License Notice
Last updated: August 22, 2021
Our services, applications, APIs, and software projects may include, link against, or otherwise depend on open-source software and third-party components. This notice explains, at a high level, how those components are used and how their license terms continue to apply.
Modern software products are built from many layers of third-party code and infrastructure. We value the open-source ecosystem and seek to respect the licenses, attribution requirements, and other conditions that apply to the components used in our Services.

1. Open-Source Components
We may use open-source components across the full software stack, including application frameworks, libraries, developer tooling, build systems, databases, runtime environments, and operational utilities.
Use of an open-source component does not transfer ownership of that component to us. Ownership remains with the original author, contributor, maintainer, or other rights holder.
2. License Terms Continue To Apply
Open-source components are governed by the licenses under which they are distributed. Depending on the specific component, those licenses may include permissive licenses, notice-based licenses, reciprocal licenses, or other open-source license forms.
Examples may include:
- MIT
- Apache License 2.0
- BSD variants
- ISC
- GPL or LGPL
- MPL or similar licenses
Nothing in our Services or agreements overrides the original terms applicable to those components.
3. Attribution and Notices
Where a license requires attribution, preservation of copyright notices, inclusion of license text, or other downstream notice obligations, we will make reasonable efforts to provide those materials in an appropriate form.
Depending on the project, required notices may appear in:
- source repositories
- package metadata
- bundled license files
- documentation or release artifacts
- in-product about pages or notices
4. Modifications and Integrations
We may configure, combine, patch, extend, or integrate open-source components as part of delivering the Services. Unless the relevant license provides otherwise, such integration does not alter the ownership of the underlying component or remove the original license obligations that continue to apply.
Where a component license imposes source-availability or modification notice requirements in connection with distribution, those obligations are governed by the terms of that specific license and the way the component is actually distributed.
5. Third-Party Services
In addition to software components, some product functionality may depend on separately operated third-party services, such as cloud hosting providers, analytics services, authentication providers, communications vendors, or AI service providers.
Those providers operate under their own legal terms and privacy practices, and use of those third-party services may be subject to separate contractual or policy frameworks.
6. Questions, Corrections, and Requests
If you believe that a required notice, attribution, or license obligation has been omitted or inaccurately presented, please contact us so that we can review the issue and make corrections where appropriate.
